Written Work

This is a curated selection of written work from my life and careers as a programmer, an artist, and a student. Being a writer has greatly informed my work as an illustrator, my work in software development, and (naturally) my work as a writing consultant for students at the Fashion Institute of Technology. DUDLEY is the true story of the dog I grew up with. In the form of a short comic, I was able to express my intense emotional connection to this creature, while also incorporating a crucial visual component I found necessary to convey Dudley’s peculiarities. The text of the comic is complete enough to stand alone, but I don’t think it would be nearly as accurate or powerful without the drawings. Creating this piece was a highly organic process, it may be evident that I did not thumbnail beforehand, or use any reference (visual or textual, please pardon the spelling mistakes) in its creation. I focused on tapping into the emotions I still have around this dog, and started and completed the comic in about four hours on my iPad.
